Pre-Half Marathon Bike Ride

A little ride, with hills yesterday to prep for running the Rock & Roll Half Marathon today.

It really didn't look like the hills were all that bad when I mapped this out.

This might have been the hardest ride I've ever done, including the two 100 mile centuries.

Hopefully I can still run today.

Week 11 Training Plan

The weeks are counting down.  11 weeks until Vineman Full.  Working into Base 2 period for my training.  12.5 hrs scheduled for this week, but without being able to workout twice a day, can only plan on fitting in 11.5.

How I'm Using my Blog

In case you found yourself on this page & wondering what the heck I'm doing here...

I make my detailed training plan for the week every weekend.  I print it out & put it on my desk so I can see what I'm supposed to do each day.  But when I'm at work I don't have access to the plan...until now.  I just take a screen shot of my plan each week & upload it to my blog & I, as well as anyone else in the world can see it.

I plan my workouts in time rather than distance.  I have to do a quick calc to figure out how for to run or bike, just dividing the time by my expected pace.  For instance, I'm supposed to have a 2 hr run today.  Divided by 9:00 min miles that works out to over 13 miles.

Week 14 Training Plan

Vineman 2010

Drove up to Morro Bay yesterday evening. Both Cat & I had to work & planned on leaving after work around 6:00 PM. We were out the door by 6:30 in typical fashion.

Cat drove the first shift out of town. Jessica met us in Oceanside & we caravaned up the coast.

Steve had left earlier in the day, around 1 or 2 & made it to Morro Bay in time for sunset & time to catch dinner there.

We stopped for a break North of LA & switched drivers.

The dogs were doing great in the car, Duke much better than in the RV last time.

Dog Beach!

Koa & Duke earned a day at the beach, and they got the most out of it! We went to Coronado Island. Here are some pictures.

The Official Ellis Summer Kick Off BBQ

Toby, Bob, Carly & Bryce brought Lilly over (Great Dane/Bull Mastiff Puppy) to play with Duke & Koa. It's safe to say they all got along great. Oliver & Kim, Luke & Greg joined us. Here are some pictures.

Jesse is moving to Florida to build homes, cave dive & become rich & famous. He said anyone is welcome to stay with him at any time for any duration! After all, he's got a guest house. Here's some more pictures.

2006-04-15 Hike in Mission Trails

We went for a hike in Mission Trails with Kim & Oliver & the dogs. Great hike, good elevation gain & great view at the top. Here are some pictures.

Harry & Sandi Visit San Diego, Go to the Zoo

Harry & Sandi came to visit on their way to tropical Tahiti. We had a great visit, Cat & Harry went to the zoo with Ray & Diane. Click here for some pix.

Congratulations Cat

Congratulations to Cat on her new job back at Petco. She deserved a new car, so she got one! It's a 2001 Saab 9-3 SE. I spent a good part of the day today washing, polishing, waxing, rain-x'ing, armor-all'ing & windex'ing. Of course after all that work it had to rain one final time. At least I get to see the benefit of the wax & rain-x right away.

Here's Luke shooting video in Monterey at Monastary Beach. Notice that the water is blue, not the typical green you see in San Diego. It was a bit colder though, about 51 degrees on average.

I finally got a roll of film developed from my disposable u/w camera and there were some nice shot from our Catalina Island trip. Definitely different from diving in SD.
